“As I sought a photographer who could capture my personality for a new set of requisite author photos, I was fortunate to find Nick Sokoloff through a search for “professional photographers in Utah.”

Surprisingly, there’s a downside to an overabundance of self-proclaimed professionals in this area, who end up over-producing (over-editing), and charging way too much for too few choices, but a myriad of "filters." So, obviously, I’d gone the rock-star “name” route in local photography. But this time around, I was really in need of a photographer who would conduct themselves professionally from start to finish.

I wanted someone with whom I’d feel comfortable, sure, but other bonus qualities--flexibility, quick response-time, and reliability--as in, he showed up when he said he would. The fact this is now “the bar” of professional standards is disheartening, but Nick went above and beyond all that, from first contact all the way through to the finish set of photos.

He’s not too heavy on post (edits) because his eye and instincts were so good. I was even more impressed when, during the shoot, he involved me in the process right then and there, finding my “look” so he used our time and energy well. I appreciated the balance he struck between “instructive” and “encouraging” when I had some unconventional ideas for shots.

Needless to say, Nick was a blast to work with and it was a memorable and fun experience through and through. I highly recommend him.
