MEET NICK

Nick Sokoloff is a Salt Lake City–based commercial photographer known for creating sophisticated, authentic imagery for commercial, editorial, healthcare, food, and corporate clients. His work spans environmental and location portraiture, lifestyle photography, and visual storytelling that brings people, places, and brands to life.

Nick earned a Master’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where he developed a lasting appreciation for the power of light, timing, personality, and visual narrative. More than two decades later, he remains a passionate student of photography and the endless possibilities of a well-crafted image.

His background in journalism, keeps him light on his feet, while his commitment to craft brings a thoughtful, meticulous approach to lighting, composition, and detail. Together, those qualities help Nick produce images that are both visually compelling and purposeful.

Nick is known for his collaborative approach, attention to detail, and open communication. He works closely with art directors, creative teams, marketing professionals, and clients to understand the goal behind an assignment and create visuals that deliver.

His work has received numerous national awards, and he has served on the advisory board of the Art Institute of Salt Lake and the local board of the American Society of Media Photographers.

Nick's personal work is an important part of his creative practice. His ongoing project, The New Americans, explores the lives and stories of immigrants and refugees in the Salt Lake City community. The project has been exhibited at Salt Lake City Hall and featured on building banners throughout the city.

Based in Salt Lake City, Nick works throughout Utah and travels nationally for commercial, editorial, and food photography assignments.
